Q: Do I need a referral from another doctor to make an appointment with Dr. Verst?

A: If you have private insurance or no insurance, you may call (208)788-7779 for an appointment. If Medicare (Medicare Advantage) or Medicaid is your primary insurance, your primary care provider must refer you and you must have an MRI that has been performed within the past couple years.

Q: Is Dr. Verst a provider for my insurance?

A: Dr. Verst is a Blue Cross, Regence Blue Shield, Sinclair and IPN participating provider. Dr. Verst accepts a wide range of private insurance and is currently accepting a limited number of new Medicare and Medicaid patients per month. Dr. Verst does not currently accept new Tricare patients. We do not bill third-party insurance carriers such as motor vehicle insurance. Q: Does Dr. Verst come to Twin Falls?

A: As of January 2013, Dr. Verst is now seeing patients at the Renaissance Plaza in Twin Falls, for appointments please call 208-788-7779.

Q: Which of Dr. Verst’s offices should I contact to make/change or cancel my appointment?

Q: Where does Dr. Verst perform his surgeries?

A: At St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center in Ketchum, Idaho and at North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding, Idaho.

Q: How do I request my medical records?

A: According to the Health Information Privacy and Protection Act (HIPPA), you are required to sign a medical records release authorization before your records can be released to you and/or any other person/doctor or establishment. This form must be filled out completely, signed and dated.

Q: How do I get a refill on my prescription medications?

A: Please contact your pharmacy for any medication refills. Refill requests are taken during business hours, Monday through Thursday 8:30 – 4:30pm. Calls on Friday should be made by 2:00 pm. Please allow at least 24 hours for refill requests to be processed. Medications are not refilled on weekends. Please direct any calls regarding medications to Evelyn, Dr. Verst’s assistant.

Q: What will happen at my first visit with Dr. Verst?

A: Your first visit is a doctor/patient consultation in which Dr. Verst will become familiar with your medical history and current complaints. After reviewing the New Patient Questionnaire (Download Here) with you, Dr. Verst will discuss with you conservative treatment options for your specific pain/problem.

Q: I’ve already been told by another doctor that I need spinal surgery. Would Dr. Verst review my records/imaging and give me a second opinion?

A: Dr. Verst would be happy to offer his opinion on your medical situation as it pertains to your spine. When you call for an appointment make sure you have gathered up your MRI, CT or other imaging, the interpretation report that goes with it along with any other doctor’s reports that would help Dr. Verst make a clear judgement about your case.

Q: I have had back pain for many years. When do I know it’s the right time to seek professional advice from a spine surgeon?

A: If you are experiencing pain, weakness or numbness in your extremities such as shooting into hips/legs or down the arms. Also when you are not able to sleep and perform normal everyday duties anymore a spine consultation is appropriate.
